Biography

Henry Blache, alias SAX, is a French street artist based in Paris and originally from the south of France (Valence). His paintings of various animals featuring brightly colored splashes quickly caught the attention of passersby on the streets of Paris, while conveying at the same time an ecological message about endangered species.

His highly instinctive and spontaneous painting technique is based on some principles taken from the Chinese xieyi-style painting, emphasizing the expression of emotions and feelings. From watercolor to ink, acrylic paint, and spray paint, Sax uses a variety of materials to reinforce the intensity and emotion in his works. The spontaneity of his work is illustrated by the “live paintings” he creates during events in France and abroad.

In March 2023, his exhibition “Les Quatre Éléments” (The Four Elements) at the Église de la Madeleine welcomed nearly 15’000 visitors. In the summer of 2023, he began a project of monumental ephemeral frescoes entitled “Empreintes” (Imprints), creating two floor frescoes using 100% natural materials and incorporating certain techniques from rock art. These works, painted outdoor, take shape when they are viewed from the sky.
