France - lille
Born in 1987, TOMMY KNUTS is an artist originally from the Opal Coast, in north of France. A graduate of Saint-Luc Tournai in Belgium and Les Gobelins in Paris, he has been based in Lille for several years. Naturally versatile, his work is multidisciplinary. Canvases, wall frescoes, ceramics, and sculptures are his main forms of expression. Through his impulsive and automatic explorations, his medley of characters and fragments of landscapes appear as the expression of his deepest reflections.
Tommy’s work is immediately identifiable by his "Knuts", these characters created by the artist and who structure the essence of his output. They appear as a reflection of our humanity and symbolize our fundamental bonds: family, friendships, our shared joys, our fears as well as our different concerns. Together, they embody an incessant quest for balance and harmony with living things, with a total respect for the world around them.
With his work, the artist Tommy Knuts seeks a visual vibration and balance through his entanglements of shapes, which deliberately complexify the reading. While colored and chaotic in appearance, his work challenge our human relationships and our freedoms.
